A new girls-only, multi-sport festival is coming to Centre County this spring.

“See Her Win” will debut Memorial Day weekend at Penn State, according to the Happy Valley Sports and Entertainment Alliance. The HVSEA is hosting the event with Teammates for Life, the women’s sports initiative founded by longtime Penn State field hockey coach Char Morett-Curtiss.

Designed for middle school and high school athletes, the festival will bring together teams from across the region in what the HVSEA described as “a multi-sport celebration dedicated to creating inclusive, high-energy opportunities for girls to compete, grow and lead both on and off the field.”

The event’s inaugural edition will feature flag football, field hockey, lacrosse, rugby and wheelchair basketball.

“The See Her Win festival is a powerful expression of the Happy Valley Sports and Entertainment Alliance’s mission to elevate Happy Valley through sports and entertainment that enrich quality of life, create meaningful economic impact and raise the visibility of our region,” HVSEA Executive Director Eric Engelbarts said in a statement. “By championing girls’ athletics through inclusive competition, mentorship and leadership development at Penn State, See Her Win strengthens our community today while inspiring the next generation of athletes and leaders for years to come.”

The festival’s them is “Compete. Connect. Be Inspired.,” and in addition to tournaments, athletes and families will be able to participate in clinics, community-building activities and events that emphasize teamwork, confidence and leadership.

“Through See Her Win, the Happy Valley Sports & Entertainment Alliance aims to build momentum beyond the festival weekend and evolve the initiative into year-round campaigns that support and elevate girls’ sports.” Engelbarts said.

Partner organizations for See Her Win are Unrivaled Sports, Tenacity Project, Rise AboveLaxFaxx and The Happy Valley Adventure Bureau.

In addition to Morett-Curtiss, support from the Penn State athletics network includes women’s rugby head coach Lauren Shissler and former women’s lacrosse coach Missy Doherty.

“I am thrilled to be a part of HVSEA’s new adventure, See Her Win, an athletic gala celebrating young girls having fun playing on the athletic fields of Penn State,” Morett-Curtiss said in a statement. “This one-of-a-kind event is about inspiring, promoting and supporting girls to build confidence, leadership, and new friendships through sport! As the leader of Teammates For Life, we look to continue our mission to engage, elevate and celebrate our young female athletes coming to Happy Valley, PA!”
